Happy New Year !

All of us at BFPA wish you, your family and your animals a very Happy New Year. At midnight, make a special toast to yourself for the difference you've made in the lives of your own pets.

Holiday Safety Tips

The holiday season is a wonderful time of year, filled with goodwill. In our enthusiasm for the season, we often overlook things we consider normal that are hazardous to our dogs and cats.

Mistletoe, especially mistletoe berries, can be very toxic to pets. Holly leaves and berries can cause gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting and diarrhea.

Tinsel on the tree has no direct toxic effects, but it can cause gastrointestinal blockage that can be life-threatening. Cats seem to love tinsel.

Styrofoam in ornaments or packaging presents the same threat of gastrointestinal blockage. And bubble lights contain methylene chloride, a moderately toxic solvent.

Sally Seeks Soulmate

Single female in search of active partner for long walks on beach, serious cuddle time. Love running, all sports. Perfect pal to kick back, watch TV, take in chick flick on the HD. At night will cuddle up, keep you warm. Gender, ethnicity unimportant.

For more information, photos and a hot video, click on this link.

Trainer Adam Bush has been working extensively with Sally. Click on this link to read his testimony on our wonderful girl, Sally.

Our hearts are broken ....

... our Lucy is gone.

Lucy died on November 8, 2009. She had recently been adopted and had been taken on a walk in a park. Her owner let her off leash. She went chasing after a deer and was never seen alive again. She was killed by a car on Hwy. 54.

The dangers of walking a dog without a leash should be obvious. Please read more about this below so you will not experience our heartbreak.

Holiday Fundraising

Image As 2009 draws to an end, we're happy to announce that BFPA found forever homes for at least 26 cats and 79 dogs this year. We could not have done it without the generosity from our friends and also people who we don't know but have big hearts. With your continued help and support, we can rescue and find forever homes for more cats and dogs in 2010.

Here are some ways you can help, and get in those last minute 2009 donations:

  • Send fast cash through PayPal
  • Write a check
  • Visit BFPA's Online Store at Cafe Press
  • Shop online via iGive
To get more details on these and other ways to help fill the BFPA coffers, see the links in the right column of this homepage. And thank you for caring for the homeless and helpless animals.
  •
    Shop 'til you Drop

... or until your credit card explodes, whichever comes first!

BFPA has tee-shirts, accessories, gifts and other stuff, thanks to Cafe Press. For every item that you buy, BFPA will receive proceeds from merchandise sales.

Our lg. coffee mug will hold enough java to read the morning paper front-to-back without having a refill .... and our caps (available in tan and white) are sharp!

Or how about a wall clock to keep you on time ?? We hope you'll check out our items available by strolling into the store (click that purple highlight) and buying some great items for yourself or as gifts to promote and help BFPA.

    Save Lives -- Sterilize

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S.--and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals.

As a result, millions of healthy, loving cats, dogs, kittens and puppies face early death -- in a very cruel fashion at your local shelter -- as a form of animal control. Others are left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, other animals and cruel humans.

What can you do to stop the suffering? How can you Pitch In ??

  • Sterilize your own pets
  • Talk to your friends and family that have pets/urge them to sterilize
  • Help spread the word

This baby can have babies of her own

A kitten can have her first litter at the age of five months, and just one litter means that five more good homes must be found. That is why there are so many strays, and why animal shelters and rescue groups are always full of cats.
